Our Story

Rycan Retaining and Earthworks is a proud family-owned and operated small business based in the South East Queensland suburb of Karana Downs. From humble beginnings as a one-man jack-of-all-trades in 2012, formally known as Rycan Maintenance, we secured several commercial contracts with ARA Building, Yes Optus, Cerebral Palsy Queensland offices and residences, Suncorp Bank, Grill'd Restaurants, Churches of Christ Care, and SEQ Water just to name a few.

Although Rycan Maintenance had been providing minor building works and earthmoving services to both residential and commercial clients throughout South East Queensland since 2012, it was in October of 2020 that Rycan Maintenance was rebranded to Rycan Retaining and Earthworks, acknowledging a clear need for a specialist structural landscaping business servicing the Brisbane Western Suburbs and Ipswich regions. It was upon rebranding that we parted ways with all general handyman type services and committed to solely offering all facets of Excavation and QBCC Licenced Building of Retaining Walls, Fences and Decks.

Today, Rycan Retaining and Earthworks is a well-known specialist provider of structural landscaping services within the Brisbane Western Suburbs and Ipswich Regions. Our knowledge of the geographical region, building code standards, local Council laws, and industry professional contacts including engineers, certifiers, material suppliers, and other trades allows us to provide an all-in-one hassle-free service to our clients. Although we are proudly still considered a small business when compared to the commercial construction titans, we are consistently expanding our team and heavy machinery fleet. Currently, our fleet consists of a 10-tonne payload Tipper Truck, Bobcat S70 Mini Skid Steer, Bobcat E20 Mini Excavator, Bobcat E45 Excavator with one-tonne counterweight, six-tonne rated Hydraulic Grabber, 450 Dedicated Rock Auger, 450 Clay Auger, and various bucket attachments.

Rycan Retaining and Earthworks have been proud members of Master Builders Queensland and Landscape Queensland Industries Association Inc. since 2021. These memberships provide our customers with peace of mind that the services we provide meet industry and legal standards.
